Baseball Recap: Delaware Valley Warriors vs. Wyoming Valley West Spartans
After flying high against Valley View last Tuesday, Delaware Valley came back down to earth. The Warriors fell just short of the Wyoming Valley West Spartans by a score of 4-3 on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 13-10 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2021.
Londyn Hernandez and Drew Wallace stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hernandez went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double, while Wallace went 3-for-4 with two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Onofry, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double.
Delaware Valley's loss dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Wyoming Valley West, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 14-7.
Delaware Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wyoming Valley West, they will square off against Hazleton Area at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
