Basketball Recap: Chartiers-Houston Buccaneers vs. Frazier Commodores
The Chartiers-Houston Buccaneers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 73-20 victory over Frazier at home. Chartiers-Houston has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 21 points or more this season.
Chartiers-Houston's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Amelia Brose, who scored 20 points along with six assists and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brose has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Allison Wingard, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Frazier saw an underclassman step up: Malana Burton scored eight points along with ten rebounds. Burton hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Frazier struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Chartiers-Houston racked up 17 assists.
Chartiers-Houston pushed their record up to 15-5 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.4 points per game. As for Frazier, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-13.
Coincidentally, Chartiers-Houston and the Commodores will both be playing the Mighty Mikes the next time they take the court. Frazier will host Carmichaels at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, while Chartiers-Houston will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
