Basketball Game Preview: Riverdale Cowboys vs. Parlier Panthers

The Riverdale Cowboys will venture away from home to square off against the Parlier Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Riverdale is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 75-18, which was the final score in Riverdale's tilt against Sierra on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Cowboys can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1094th, while the Chieftains are ranked 278th).

Karen Ayala was Riverdale's leading scorer, having posted seven points.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Parlier, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They breezed by Fresno Christian to the tune of 64-31 on Tuesday.

Riverdale's loss dropped their record down to 12-12. As for Parlier, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 18 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season.

Riverdale might still be hurting after the 46-21 defeat they got from Parlier in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Riverdale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
