Softball Recap: Greater Atlanta Christian Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Greater Atlanta Christian had lost five straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 6-13 to make it six. They came up short against the Lanier Longhorns, falling 14-4. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 11-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2019.

As for Lanier, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games.

For Lanier's part, Lindsay Sisk made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Sisk was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophia Roche, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one triple. Sanai Hampton was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Coming up, Greater Atlanta Christian is taking a road trip to face off against White County at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Lanier, they will host Duluth at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.76 runs per game on average), something the Longhorns will no doubt try to take advantage of.
