Football Recap: Jake Lutz's Menacing Defense Leads East Central over Franklin County

East Central's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They put the hurt on the Franklin County Wildcats with a sharp 35-14 victory. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Wildcats are ranked 98th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

East Central's defense made their presence known, laying out Wyatt Bowling. five times. Leading the way was Jake Lutz with three sacks. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with six.

Despite the loss, Franklin County still got an impressive performance from Bowling, who rushed for 169 yards and two TDs while picking up 7.0 yards per carry. Bowling was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 64 yards.

East Central's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Franklin County, their loss was their first of the season and also makes their record 3-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Central will take on Batesville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 841 yards in their previous games. As for Franklin County, they will challenge Lawrenceburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' defense has only allowed 14.8 points per game this season, so the Wildcats' offense will have their work cut out for them.
