Soccer Game Preview: Mainland vs. Father Lopez

The Mainland Buccaneers will head out on the road to square off against the Father Lopez Green Wave at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mainland's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for eight straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

On Monday, Mainland might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Cocoa Beach an easy 12-1 win. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 470th, while the Minutemen are ranked 108th).

Meanwhile, for the first time since back in November, Father Lopez was forced to settle for a draw on Wednesday. They and Crescent City finished up their matchup with a 1-1 draw.

With that draw, Father Lopez's record moves to 1-4-3. As for Mainland, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.

Mainland suffered a grim 6-1 defeat to Father Lopez in their previous meeting back in January. Can Mainland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
