Football Game Preview: Kingman Eagles vs. Garden Plain Owls

The Kingman Eagles will square off against the Garden Plain Owls at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kingman has given up an average of 37.8 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Kingman is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They enjoyed a cozy 54-40 win over Douglass on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won six in a row.

Logan Birkenbaugh was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 87 yards and four touchdowns, and also threw for 194 yards and a pair of TDs on only 14 passes. Kingman's leading receiver Trenton Clark was Birkenbaugh's top target yet again, picking up 148 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Kingman was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 253 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Garden Plain was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They slipped by Haven 15-14.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Braylen Dold and Emrick Hays. Dold rushed for 149 yards and one touchdown while picking up 8.8 yards per carry while Hays rushed for 125 yards and one TD. Those 149 rushing yards gave Dold a new career-high.

Garden Plain's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Kingman, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Kingman ended up a good deal behind Garden Plain in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, losing 38-21. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Hays, who rushed for 211 yards and five scores while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Now that the Eagles know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
