Basketball Recap: Trinity Chu's Big Game Can't Quite Lead California over Saint Francis

If California was feeling good fresh off their 69-21 takedown of King's Academy last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The California Grizzlies fell to the Saint Francis Lancers 54-48. The loss was the Grizzlies' first of the season.

California's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trinity Chu, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 13 points and four steals. Chu has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofie Addiego, who posted nine points, to go along with five assists and five boards.

Having lost for the first time this season, California fell to 3-1. As for Saint Francis, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.

California wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 56-51 loss against Oakland Tech on the 9th. As for Saint Francis, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 78-43 win against Saint Mary's on the 7th.
