Basketball Game Preview: Richland Rams vs. Penns Valley Area Rams

Richland will venture away from home to take on Penns Valley Area at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Richland will be strutting in after a win while Penns Valley Area will be coming in after a loss.

Richland is headed into the match having just posted their biggest victory since January 14th last Monday. They claimed a resounding 50-23 win over Chestnut Ridge. The Rams pushed the score to 50-18 by the end of the third, a deficit the Lions cut but never quite recovered from.

Richland found their leader in sophomore Trinity Macey, who almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine boards. Macey is becoming a predictor of Richland's success: when she posts at least 15 points the team is undefeated (and 7-11 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Lanie Marshall, who posted ten points along with eight rebounds and four steals.

Richland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chestnut Ridge only pulled down six offensive rebounds.

Meanwhile, Penns Valley Area suffered their biggest defeat since January 6th last Monday. They were outmatched by Bishop Guilfoyle and fell 67-28. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Rams' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.

Richland's victory bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Penns Valley Area, their loss dropped their record down to 14-8.

Richland beat Penns Valley Area 47-40 in their previous matchup back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Richland since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
