Horizon won the last time they faced Legacy and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Hawks put the hurt on the Lightning with a sharp 12-2 victory. Considering the Hawks have won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Kaiya Barela made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in September.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Howard, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Bryanna Fontes, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Horizon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 12 consecutive contests.
Horizon has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Legacy, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-10.
