Football Recap: Lawrence Comes Up Short

Lawrence extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-3. They came up short against the Olathe Northwest Ravens, falling 38-17. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Ravens apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2019.

Despite the defeat, Lawrence saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Joey Dooley rushed for 70 yards and one TD on only eight carries, and also threw for 190 yards and one touchdown.

As for Olathe Northwest, they now have a winning record of 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for they.

Bryce Randall went supernova, rushing for 145 yards and a pair of scores. Randall is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 145 every time he's taken the field this season. Tyler Manzella made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Lawrence has already played their next matchup, a 42-21 loss against Mill Valley on the 26th. As for Olathe Northwest, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 31-28 win against Shawnee Mission Northwest on the 26th.
