Preview: Mammoth Huskies vs. Kern Valley Broncs

Mammoth is 0-6 against Kern Valley since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Mammoth Huskies will be playing at home against the Kern Valley Broncs at 5:30 p.m. Mammoth is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.

Mammoth won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 71-14 loss at the hands of Rosamond. Mammoth has struggled against Rosamond recently, as their matchup on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Kern Valley beat Bishop Union 58-49 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Kern Valley.

Kern Valley's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jessie Bunting, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds, and Jayda Bushling, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bushling has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Elli Jeans, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds and three steals.

Mammoth has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Kern Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Mammoth was taken down by Kern Valley 56-14 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Kern Valley's Ava Elliott, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds.
