Softball Recap: Sierra Comes Up Short

Sierra had lost four straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 0-5 to make it five. They came up short against The Classical Academy Titans, falling 19-2. That's two games in a row now that the Stallions have lost by exactly 17 runs.

Sierra saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Karen Flores, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run.

As for The Classical Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

On The Classical Academy's side, Basil Murphy was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Murphy was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Taytum Kimbro and Ada Wilson did most of the damage at the plate: Kimbro got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Wilson went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Wilson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Khaiyah Bacon, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs.

Coming up, Sierra will challenge Mitchell at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for The Classical Academy, they will take on Sand Creek at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Scorpions have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
