Basketball Game Preview: Truckee Wolverines vs. Loyalton Grizzlies

The Truckee Wolverines just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Loyalton Grizzlies at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Truckee is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Portola 60-29. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Wolverines with their most commanding win of the season.

Among those leading the charge was Elsa Voegele, who posted 14 points along with seven boards and five blocks. Those 14 points gave her a new career-high. Violet Euan was another key player, putting up ten points.

Meanwhile, Loyalton hadn't done well against Quincy recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Grizzlies managed a 46-42 victory over the Trojans. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Grizzlies.

Loyalton's win came from a few key players Truckee will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Josie Petterson, who had 20 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Catherine Petterson, who put up ten points and seven assists.

Loyalton was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've passed the ball that well.

Truckee's record is now 4-2. As for Loyalton, their record now sits at an identical 4-2.

Truckee came up short against Loyalton in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 44-40. Can the Wolverines avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
