Basketball Recap: Morse Beats Hoover for Their Fifth Straight Win

Morse came tearing into Friday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Hoover Cardinals by a score of 52-43. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 266th, while the Cardinals are ranked 568th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Hoover still got an impressive performance from Jewel Parker, who posted 23 points. The contest was Parker's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Myesha Frank, who earned nine points.

Morse is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Hoover, they moved to 6-5 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Morse will take on Calexico in a tournament on Thursday. Morse is facing Calexico at the right time seeing as Calexico is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Hoover, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Southwest EC at 10:30 a.m. on January 2, 2025. Hoover is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.4 points per game this season.
