            Basketball Recap: Helix Highlanders vs. Granite Hills Eagles        
        
		
        
        
            Helix lost to Granite Hills  last Tuesday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Helix Highlanders blew past the Granite Hills Eagles 54-29. The Highlanders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven  matches by 23  points or more this season.
Leading Helix to victory were  Samara Patterson and  Jordyn McMillan.  Patterson  dropped  a double-double on 16  points and 12  boards, while  McMillan  dropped  a double-double on 13 points and ten  rebounds. With that strong performance,  McMillan is now averaging an impressive 8.1  rebounds per game. Another player making a difference was  Michaelle Whyte, who  posted nine  points.

 Helix  smashed the offensive glass and  finished the game with 25  offensive boards. That's the most  offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.
 Granite Hills'  defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of  Jillian Griffith, who  scored 11 points, and  Ajak Agoth, who  had 12  points. The dominant performance gave  Griffith a new career-high in points.
Helix's  victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 10-12. As for Granite Hills, they have  traveled a rocky road recently having  lost six of their last eight contests,  which put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record  this season.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Helix will welcome Steele Canyon  at 5:30  p.m.  on February 14th. As for Granite Hills, they will host Grossmont  at 6:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Grossmont has seven straight  wins, Granite Hills has four straight  losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
