Basketball Recap: Washington Comes Up Short

Washington and Encinal squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Washington had to settle for second. They lost 59-37 to the Encinal Jets. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-11.

Jazzy Alcantar was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 24 points and 15 rebounds for Encinal. Alcantar has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Surina Castro, who posted nine points and five steals.

Washington's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Encinal, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-9 record this season.

Washington does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Encinal, they will head out to take on Woodland Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
