Softball Recap: Bastrop Comes Up Short

Bastrop extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-11. They lost 11-0 to the Delhi Charter Gators. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Gators this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-0 back in March.

Jameria Tolbert made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one double. Kensley Duffie also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

As for Delhi Charter, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-5. The result was nothing new for the Gators, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

On Delhi Charter's side, Alli Henson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Henson has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Shakayla Montgomery was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. K'Miaya Fletcher was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bastrop will square off against Carroll on Friday. As for Delhi Charter, they will face off against Madison at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
