Baseball Recap: Midway Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Midway got themselves on the board against Wallace-Rose Hill on Tuesday, but Wallace-Rose Hill never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 10-0 victory. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Not much got past Samuel Scott, who gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks to keep Wallace-Rose Hill off the board. Scott has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tanner Williams, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Wilson Mayo was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Midway's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for Wallace-Rose Hill, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-9.

Coming up, Midway will welcome Ayden - Grifton at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Raiders 3.9, the Chargers 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Wallace-Rose Hill, they will venture away from home to take on Spring Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Gators have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.94 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
