Basketball Recap: Alhambra Moors vs. Schurr Spartans
The Alhambra Moors were the 45-43 winner over the Schurr Spartans when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Alhambra received a tough blow on Tuesday as they fell 59-43 to the Spartans.
When it comes to explaining why Alhambra lost, one person who can't be blamed is Megan Lai. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lai has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Joanna Dong, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Alhambra has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Schurr, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.
Alhambra will head out on the road to square off against the Matadors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. San Gabriel is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home. Schurr will take on the Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in California (Bell Gardens is ranked 531st, while the Spartans are ranked 511th).
