Basketball Game Preview: Quincy Trojans vs. Trinity Wolves

The Quincy Trojans will head out on the road to challenge the Trinity Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Quincy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 63-40 margin over East Nicolaus. Winning may never get old, but the Trojans sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

It was another big night for Shelby Nussle, who almost dropped a double-double with 23 points and nine rebounds. Her evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Skylar McCarthy, who posted three points in addition to seven boards and six assists.

Meanwhile, Trinity blew past Etna, posting a 61-27 win. Given the Wolves' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 220th, while the Lions are ranked 808th), the result last Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Quincy better keep an eye on Claire Cox. She was instrumental in Trinity's win, dropping a double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Elsie Storckman was another key player, dropping a double-double with 18 points and ten boards.

Trinity smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 15 consecutive contests.

Trinity has been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.1 points over those games. Quincy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-5.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Quincy has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 30.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Trinity struggles in that department as they've been averaging 33.1 boards.
