Fairland extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping them down to 5-4. They fell 10-7 to the Colcord Hornets. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Owls, who until this matchup were averaging 3.22 runs allowed.
Bella Rentfrow and Calli Moncada stepped up to the plate in a big way. Rentfrow went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while Moncada went 2-for-5 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Those hits marked the first that Rentfrow has got this season. Another player making a difference was Addilyn Lollar, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
As for Colcord, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.
On Colcord's side, Gracie Evans and Shae Downing were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Evans tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Downing tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. At the plate, Evans went 1-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Downing went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, Tenley Worsham was excellent, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and one double. Kelli McGarrah was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Looking ahead, Fairland will take on Chelsea at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Colcord, they will challenge Vian at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday.
