Soccer Game Preview: Del Lago Academy vs. Maranatha Christian

The Del Lago Academy Firebirds will head out to take on the Maranatha Christian Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Del Lago Academy's offense. They fell just short of La Jolla Country Day by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. Del Lago Academy haven't had much luck with La Jolla Country Day recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Meanwhile, Maranatha Christian also failed to score in their most recent game. They came up short against Bishop's on Thursday, falling 8-0. While losing is never fun, Maranatha Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 1110th, while Bishop's are ranked 268th).

Del Lago Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-8-2. As for Maranatha Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10-3.

Del Lago Academy got the 'W' when the teams last played back in January against Maranatha Christian by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Firebirds since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
