Football Game Preview: Runge Yellowjackets vs. New Braunfels Thunder Homeschool

The Runge Yellowjackets will challenge the New Braunfels Thunder Homeschool at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Friday, everything came up roses for Runge against Coastal Christian HomeSchool as the squad secured a 68-6 victory. The matchup marked the Yellowjackets' most dominant win of the season.

Runge's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nathaniel Perez, who rushed for 71 yards and one score.all of that, rushing production came thanks to one massive run Another rusher making a difference was Bradley Jones, who rushed for 63 yards and one TD.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Runge, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Martin Sanders, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, New Braunfels Thunder had to suffer through a 70-37 loss at the hands of San Antonio Patriots HomeSchool. The loss was the Homeschool's first of the season.

Runge will need to focus on slowing down Aaron Ford, one of several New Braunfels Thunder players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 199 yards while picking up 11.7 yards per carry, and also threw for 84 yards and one touchdown. Rayney Schultz was another key player, rushing for 58 yards and one score.

Runge's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for New Braunfels Thunder, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Runge has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 190.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like New Braunfels Thunder struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 356 rushing yards.
