The Heritage Eagles will head out to take on the Grand Junction Tigers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
On Friday, Heritage came up short against Palisade and fell 7-4. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Caitlin Chamaty made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Macie Wilson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Grand Junction entered their tilt with Niwot on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Cougars 11-4. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.
Kloe Donahue made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Alysa Lorimor was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Jacquelyn Boyd was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Grand Junction kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Niwot only managed five.
Heritage's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Grand Junction, their record is now 12-4.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Heritage hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .342. However, it's not like Grand Junction struggles in that department as they've averaged .373. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Heritage came out on top in a nail-biter against Grand Junction when the teams last played back in September of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
