Discovery Canyon has gone 9-1 against Cheyenne Mountain recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Thunder will be playing at home against the Red-Tailed Hawks at 4:00 p.m. The timing isn't great for Discovery Canyon: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Cheyenne Mountain has snatched up six consecutive wins on the road.
Discovery Canyon lost 12-2 to Lutheran on Wednesday.
Taylor McCann was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Cheyenne Mountain was able to grind out a solid win over Air Academy on Wednesday, taking the game 17-14.
Cheyenne Mountain got a massive performance out of Corrine Harlow, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave Harlow a new career-high. Michaela (MJ) Ewen was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.
Cheyenne Mountain kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.
Cheyenne Mountain's victory bumped their record up to 13-4. As for Discovery Canyon, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Discovery Canyon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Cheyenne Mountain struggles in that department as they've averaged .343. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
