Softball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Cartersville

Cartersville came tearing into Thursday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Cedartown Bulldogs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-2 back in August.

Zoie Shiflett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cartersville's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Lakiaya Banks, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases Banks has posted since back in August of 2024.

Cartersville's win bumped their record up to 17-2. As for Cedartown, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-7.

Coming up, Cartersville will take on Dalton at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cedartown, they will venture away from home to face off against Rockmart at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
