Softball Recap: Lutheran Beats Air Academy for Their Tenth Straight Victory

Lutheran extended their winning streak to ten on Wednesday, bumping them up to 18-4. They put the hurt on the Air Academy Kadets with a sharp 10-0 victory. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by eight runs or more this season.

Annie Schroeder looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Addie Brightman was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Khloe Kendrick was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one triple.

Lutheran was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive games.

As for Air Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-5-1. The matchup marked the first time this season in which they were not able to get on the board.

On Air Academy's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucy Nelson, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lutheran will host Palmer Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season. As for Air Academy, they will square off against Pueblo Centennial at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
