Basketball Game Preview: Laguna Beach Breakers vs. Calipatria Hornets

The Laguna Beach Breakers and the Calipatria Hornets will round out the year against one another at at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Calipatria took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Laguna Beach, who comes in off a win.

Last Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Laguna Beach beat Laguna Hills 39-35.

Laguna Beach's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kate Cheng led the charge by putting up 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Fiona McCormick, who posted 11 points.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Calipatria's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They had to suffer through a 59-31 loss at the hands of Palo Verde Valley. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Hornets have suffered against the Yellow Jackets since February 13, 2020.

Laguna Beach has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. As for Calipatria, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
