Texas high school football: Week 2 schedule, scores

Weekend slate headlined by No. 4 Aledo taking on No. 5 Guyer.

This week's Texas high school football schedule is headlined by a battle between No. 4 Aledo and No. 5 Denton Guyer on Friday. See the complete slate and top 25 matchups below.

Aledo, the defending Class 5A Division I state champions, started the season with a 50-35 win over Parish Episcopal (Dallas). Guyer, which beat Aledo 44-14 a year ago, is coming off a 42-14 win over Rockwall-Heath (Rockwall).

In another battle of ranked teams, No. 6 Atascocita (Humble) hosts No. 17 Katy. Both teams are coming off impressive wins with Atascocita rolling past Dickinson 46-21 and Katy beating Clear Springs (League City) 34-22.

No. 19 Melissa travels to battle defending Class 4A Division I state champion China Spring in another intriguing matchup.

Finally, in the state's fourth-longest running rivalry, No. 13 Longview travels to Marshall. Both programs are in danger of starting the season 0-2 after suffering setbacks a week ago. Longview fell to McKinney 23-21 while Marshall dropped a 38-36 five-overtime decision to Tyler.
