Softball Recap: Mt. Zion Starts Season with Win at Home

Mt. Zion gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. Everything went their way against Drew Charter as they made off with a 23-11 win.

Cyni Dennis was a standout: she fired off two home runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI while going 3-for-4. Haley Howell was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with nine stolen bases and four runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Mt. Zion kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Looking ahead, Mt. Zion will be playing at home against Douglass at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Drew Charter, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Redan at 5:30 p.m. on the 20th.
