Preview: Hackleburg Panthers vs. Brilliant Tigers
After two games on the road, Hackleburg is heading back home. They will take on the Brilliant Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Hackleburg is ranked 200th, while Brilliant is ranked 189th).
Last Tuesday, Hackleburg didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Colbert Heights, but they still walked away with a 41-35 victory.
Hackleburg found their leader in underclassman Ellie Nichols, who scored 17 points along with three steals. Nichols hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordin Ware, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Brilliant's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 53-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hackleburg.
Hackleburg is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Brilliant, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-7.
Hackleburg beat Brilliant 53-46 in their previous matchup on Tuesday. Does Hackleburg have another victory up their sleeve, or will Brilliant turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
