It was a good run, but Mahomet-Seymour unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-match winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Normal University Pioneers by a score of 2-1. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pioneers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

Mahomet-Seymour started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-21, 15-7.

Mahomet-Seymour's defeat dropped their record down to 23-3. As for Normal University, the win was the 15th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 23-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Mahomet-Seymour will venture away from home to square off against Mt. Zion at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Normal University, they will head out to take on Sacred Heart-Griffin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
