Abilene waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 39-38 victory over the Coronado Thunderbirds. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Thunderbirds, too.

Coronado's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aaron Terrazas, who posted 11 points. Roberto Lopez was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Abilene has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Coronado, they moved to 8-3 with that defeat, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Abilene has already played their next contest, a 44-42 win against Pearce on the 6th. As for Coronado, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 38-34 loss against South San Antonio on the 6th.
