Basketball Recap: Zoe Malena's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sacramento Waldorf over Sacramento Adventist

Sacramento Waldorf and Sacramento Adventist squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Sacramento Waldorf had to settle for second. They received a blow as they fell 53-34 to the Sacramento Adventist Capitals. The loss continues a trend for the Waves in their matchups with the Capitals: they've now lost seven in a row.

Sacramento Waldorf's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zoe Malena, who posted eight points. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Payne, who earned seven points.

Sacramento Adventist's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bella Plesea led the charge by dropping a double-double with 14 points and 17 boards. The dominant performance gave Plesea a new career-high in rebounds. Mikayla Meza was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 15 points and nine boards.

Sacramento Waldorf's loss dropped their record down to 22-6. As for Sacramento Adventist, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 21-6.

Sacramento Waldorf does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sacramento Adventist, they will face off against Faith Christian at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Faith Christian will roll in looking for their 18th straight victory, something Sacramento Adventist surely won't give up without a fight.
