Basketball Recap: Madison Highland Prep Takes a Loss

Madison Highland Prep played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 58-24 loss at the hands of the Great Hearts Anthem Eagles. The Heat were down 52-17 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Madeline Leonard was Madison Highland Prep's leading scorer, having posted 16 points.

Great Hearts Anthem was led to victory by Madi Hatfield and Charlotte Locke. Hatfield dropped a double-double with 23 points and ten rebounds, while Locke dropped a double-double with 11 points and 25 boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which Hatfield has scored at least a third of the Eagles' points. Haley Mulleneaux was another key player, putting up six points and 13 boards.

Madison Highland Prep is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8. As for Great Hearts Anthem, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-2.

Madison Highland Prep and Great Hearts Anthem will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Heat see the court they'll take on ALA - Mesa North at 5:30 p.m. on January 7, 2026. As for Great Hearts Anthem, their break will end when they face Antelope at 5:30 p.m. on January 8, 2026.
