Recap: Serra Cavaliers vs. Brentwood School Eagles

The Serra Cavaliers suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Monday. They were beaten by Brentwood School 64-25. While losing is never fun, Serra can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 472nd, while Brentwood School is ranked 46th).

Several Cavaliers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kali Carter, who scored eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryleigh Boagni, who scored six points.

Payton Sugar was her usual excellent self, going 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 1 assist for Brentwood School. Lev Feiman was another key contributor, scoring ten points.

Serra's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Brentwood School, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-6.

Serra won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Serra likes a good challenge. Brentwood School won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Windward at 5:30 p.m. on January 16th. Windward has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
