The Oxbow Olympians will venture away from home to face off against the Randolph Ghosts at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Oxbow turned things around against Lake Region on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 14-6 margin over the Rangers. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Olympians' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Brogan Covey made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up five earned runs off nine hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Oxbow is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-6 otherwise. Covey was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jonny Smith, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with seven stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Those seven stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Griffin Pike was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Oxbow always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Randolph hadn't done well against Lyndon Institute recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Ghosts blew past the Vikings 14-6. The result was nothing new for the Ghosts, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.
Oxbow's record now sits at 3-7. As for Randolph, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Randolph's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Oxbow hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .339. It's a different story for Randolph, though, as they've only averaged .244. Will they be able to contain Oxbow's hitters?
Oxbow might still be hurting after the 9-3 defeat they got from Randolph in their previous matchup back in June of 2025. Can the Olympians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
