Football Recap: Gilbert Comes Up Short

Gilbert's last matchup with Mountain Pointe could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Friday. The Tigers were beaten by the Pride 52-20. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Pride recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Although Gilbert took the loss, they still got scores from Marcus Ronquillo, Jonathan Guy, and Braxton Nino.

Mountain Pointe's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mekhi Hodge led the charge by picking up 38 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Gilbert's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Mountain Pointe, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.

Gilbert has already played their next matchup, a 49-33 loss against Red Mountain on the 24th. As for Mountain Pointe, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-6 win against Skyline on the 24th.
