Basketball Recap: Chula Vista Comes Up Short

Chula Vista was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Crawford Colts an easy 47-24 victory. The Spartans were not able to make up for their loss to the Colts from their previous meeting back in December of 2023.

Tracy Echoku was Chula Vista's leading scorer, having posted eight points. Echoku also led the team in assists with three. Nancy Chavez held things down on the boards with 20 rebounds.

Fatuma Abdi continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Crawford, putting up 28 points along with seven boards and five assists. Abdi continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Samitioata Fidow was another key player, posting six points along with ten rebounds and three steals.

Chula Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Crawford, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-7.

Chula Vista didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 38-35 loss against Southwest SD on the 20th. As for Crawford, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 0-0 victory against Mount Miguel on the 20th.
