Preview: Union Area Scotties vs. Eden Christian Academy
Union Area and Eden Christian Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Union Area Scotties will be playing in front of their home fans against Eden Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Union Area scored the most points they've had all season to find success two weeks ago. They blew past Bishop Canevin, posting a 58-22 victory at home. That looming 58-22 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Union Area yet this season.
Meanwhile, Eden Christian Academy entered their tilt with West Greene with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Eden Christian Academy put the hurt on West Greene with a sharp 50-27 win on Saturday. Given Eden Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 284th, while West Greene is ranked 590th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Eden Christian Academy relied on the efforts of Emmie Smith, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and six assists, and Hope Haring, who scored 21 points along with eight steals. Haring is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Elysia Smith, who scored four points along with seven rebounds.
Union Area now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Eden Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.
Everything went Union Area's way against Eden Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as Union Area made off with a 52-29 victory.
