Basketball Recap: Atwater Picks Up 19th Straight Win at Home

Atwater entered their tilt with Golden Valley on Tuesday with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. They took their game with ease, bagging a 77-17 win over the Golden Valley Cougars. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 47-11.

Karissa Hukill continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 7 of 11 en route to 19 points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Isabella Villa, who went 7 for 10 on her way to 14 points and seven boards.

Atwater smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 25 consecutive contests.

Golden Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaylin Scheurich, who posted seven points.

Atwater's victory was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.8 points per game. As for Golden Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 14 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season.
