Basketball Recap: Truckee Wolverines vs. Hug Hawks
Truckee lost against Hug back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Truckee Wolverines took a 41-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hug Hawks. The Wolverines have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Truckee lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Becca Brown, who posted 11 points. Brown continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dani Cornette, who earned seven points.
Cori Carrier was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a triple-double on 23 points, 14 boards, and nine steals for Hug. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which Carrier has scored at least a third of Hug's points. Taliyah Henderson was another key player, putting up four points and nine steals.
Truckee's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Hug, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.
Truckee will challenge South Tahoe at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Tahoe will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Truckee surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hug, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-39 defeat against Spring Creek on the 18th.
