Sandy Creek's last matchup with Tucker could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Friday. Sandy Creek lost 15-6 to Tucker.
Trey Maull was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ian Chisolm, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Meanwhile, while Langston Hughes put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Douglas County. Everything went Langston Hughes' way against Douglas County as Langston Hughes made off with a 10-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Panthers have posted since February 23, 2024.
Ladanian Brock was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamonte Mapp, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Langston Hughes was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .360 or higher in three consecutive games.
Langston Hughes' win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Sandy Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Sandy Creek has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Langston Hughes struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Sandy Creek was able to grind out a solid victory over Langston Hughes in their previous matchup back in February of 2018, winning 11-6. Will Sandy Creek repeat their success, or does Langston Hughes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
