Basketball Preview: Williamson Warriors vs. Galeton Tigers
The Williamson Warriors will be playing at home against the Galeton Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
After a string of seven wins, Williamson's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 50-49 to Troy. Williamson found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 18 to 9 on offense.
Williamson's loss came about despite a quality game from Taylor Rae Jones, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. Jones is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kenna Thomas, who scored ten points along with two steals and two blocks.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Galeton, who are still winless after their 17th match. They were dealt a 44-14 loss at the hands of Smethport on Tuesday.
Williamson's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-3. As for Galeton, their defeat was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-17.
Everything came up roses for Williamson against the Tigers in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 51-6 victory. With Williamson ahead 35-2 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
