Basketball Recap: Rancho Christian Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Sierra Canyon

Rancho Christian faced Sierra Canyon in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Eagles had to suffer through an 89-62 loss at the hands of the Trailblazers. The Eagles were down 68-48 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Despite the loss, Rancho Christian saw an underclassman step up: freshman Addison Archer went 9-for-13 en route to 22 points and seven assists. Archer has also also been stellar as far as shooting accuracy is concerned: she's posted one of at least 47% every time she's hit the court this season. Another player making a difference was Alyson Boyd, who shot 43% from the field to rack up 13 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Rancho Christian and nudges their season record down to 5-2. As for Sierra Canyon, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-1.

Rancho Christian will take on Heritage in a holiday battle at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Sierra Canyon, they will square off against Bishop O'Dowd at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
