Basketball Recap: Lamar Skates Past Sterling with Ease

Lamar was handed a heart-breaking two-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Sterling on Saturday. The Thunder claimed a resounding 60-29 win over the Tigers. For the Thunder, this counts as revenge for the 62-44 victory the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2016.

Leading Lamar to victory were Jacob Dunning and Alex Williams. Dunning posted 18 points along with eight boards and three blocks, while Williams went 7-for-15 on his way to 14 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Those three blocks gave Dunning a new career-high. Baylor Autry was another key player, putting up seven points.

Lamar smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Lamar's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Sterling, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Looking ahead, Lamar will hit the road for the first time this season to take on Buena Vista at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give the Thunder their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Sterling, they will be home for the holidays to greet Platte Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
