Baseball Recap: Sumter County Comes Up Short

The matchup between Sumter County and Shaw on Tuesday hardly resembled the 2-1 effort from their previous meeting. The Sumter County Panthers lost 17-2 to the Shaw Raiders. The defeat leaves the Panthers still looking for their first win on the season.

Kaeden Jones was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-1. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

Even though they lost, Sumter County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Sumter County's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Shaw, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Looking ahead, Sumter County will be playing at home against Spencer at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Shaw, they will head out on the road to take on Carver at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Shaw is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
