Softball Recap: Greenbrier Extends Winning Streak to Five

Greenbrier had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They walked away with a 10-7 win over the Madison County Red Raiders. For the Wolfpack, this counts as revenge for the 10-2 victory the Red Raiders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2021.

The team relied heavily on Addie Thouvenot, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava Hamilton, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI.

Greenbrier was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Greenbrier's win bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Madison County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Greenbrier is taking a road trip to face off against Evans at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wolfpack's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season. As for Madison County, they will take on Cedar Shoals at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Jaguars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.5 runs per game on average), something the Red Raiders will no doubt try to take advantage of.
