Softball Game Preview: Ponderosa Mustangs vs. Palmer Ridge Bears

The Ponderosa Mustangs are taking a road trip to square off against the Palmer Ridge Bears at 12:15 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Ponderosa's tournament run continued when they took on Westminster on Friday. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Wolves with a sharp 7-1 win.

Joey Qualteri spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ponderosa let Avery Britt and Campbell Trombley run wild. Britt went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Trombley went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Berkley Jenkins, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI.

Ponderosa hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westminster struck out seven times.

Meanwhile, Palmer Ridge made easy work of Roosevelt on Friday and carried off an 18-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bears.

Palmer Ridge's win bumped their record up to 21-4. As for Ponderosa, the victory got them back to even at 13-13.
